Engineering consultants trusted to deliver 55 projects worth a value of more than \u00a3100 million since March<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Scottish mechanical and electrical engineering consultants XBuro has announced a significant expansion into the south of England \u2013 including the launch of a new London office and a recruitment drive \u00ad\u2013 to meet increasing demand during the coronavirus lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Among the 55 contracts taken on by XBuro since March are eight substantial projects for the NHS, including the Covid-19 test facility at Gartnavel Hospital by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the Western General Infrastructure Works project by NHS Lothian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


In 2019, XBuro UK delivered 500,000 square feet of healthcare projects across the UK. Since the pandemic began, the company has delivered 750,000 square feet of healthcare projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Director Michael Gribben, who founded XBuro UK alongside fellow director Thomas Brady in 2018, said: \u201cAt the beginning of the first lockdown, a lot of projects were delayed, so there was some uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cHowever, very quickly we began to receive a huge influx of enquiries, particularly in the healthcare sector. This demand has remained consistently high since then. We were able to deliver important projects quickly, while never sacrificing quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cWe have been proud to have been able to play a small part in a much larger effort by helping to deliver vital public health projects during our nation\u2019s time of need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cDuring this period, we have also delivered numerous private sector projects and we\u2019re also delighted to now be recognised as a trusted partner of developers and fund managers across the UK. Our pitch success rate is rising all the time as our reputation grows.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n


In recent months, directors Michael Gribben and Thomas Brady have bolstered their team with the recruitment of design director David Russell from HKA and senior electrical engineer Ian Menzies from Charles Scott and Partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The Glasgow-based company\u2019s robust Covid-19 Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) allowed the influx of projects to begin without delay and to truly deliver projects without delay or interruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Last year, the company carried out condition inspections on over seven million square feet of both private and public sector real estate across the UK. This is set to reach 12 million square feet by the end of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


XBuro are working alongside Ryden, JLL, PMP, Doig and Smith, Currie and Brown, Thomson Gray and Avison Young on high-profile commercial real estate projects \u2013 including major office redevelopments in Glasgow\u2019s St Vincent Street and Buchanan Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


In addition to the major NHS works, project wins in the public sector include being appointed quality monitor for schools across North Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire, as well as projects in the defence sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
